Yaya Toure 'set' to join Ukrainian outfit Olimpik Donetsk

Yaya Toure is set to join Ukrainian club Olimpik Donetsk as the assistant coach. Yaya Toure is currently expected to assume his first coaching job at the Ukrainian side of Olympik Donetsk in Manchester City.

The 37-year-old Ivorian enjoyed a trophy-charged career that included spells with Barcelona and Manchester City, and won 97 caps for the Ivory Coast.

His last playing contract was in the Chinese Super League at Qingdao Huanghai, but sources say that he will begin his coaching career in the country he played in from 2003 to 2005.

Toure is now set to join Vicente Gomez’s coaching staff at Olimpic Donetsk.

On Twitter, former Toure agent Dimitry Seluk commented:’ Yaya began his football career at the Donetsk club. He will also launch his coaching career at a club in Donetsk.

‘(He) is going to the Olympics. Thanks to the president and head coach, who asked Yaya to pass on his experience as assistant coach[sic] to young footballers.’

On Twitter, former Toure agent Dimitry Seluk commented:’ Yaya began his football career at the Donetsk club. He will also launch his coaching career at a club in Donetsk.

From 2007 through to 2010, Yaya Toure won three Barcelona La Liga titles and one Champions League title. He moved to Manchester City for £27million and went on to win 3 Premier League titles and one FA Cup.

For three months, he joined Olympiacos in 2018 and then lived out the remainder of his career in China.
