Xavi agrees to become Barcelona new boss as club
Xavi, a Barcelona football legend, has reportedly accepted to become the club’s new manager.
After losing to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night, Ronald Koeman was fired, and Sergi Barjuan has been named as the club’s interim manager.
Xavi wants to bid a dignified farewell to Qatari club Al Sadd, according to Spanish newspaper AS, but might arrive in Barcelona on November 4 and be presented that day or the next.
According to AS, Xavi has an £840,000 release clause that Barcelona will have to pay, yet the publication claims that a gentleman’s agreement between the manager and his Qatari masters could allow him to leave for free.
Xavi has been the manager of Al Sadd for two years, having joined as a player after leaving Barcelona in 2015.
‘Barcelona will unveil a new interim coach,’ tweeted Fabrizio Romano. Then it’ll be Xavi’s turn. After speaking with president Laporta a few days earlier, he accepted the Barça project. ‘I’m still waiting for Al-Sadd to complete the contract termination process.’
