Brodie Lee — former WWE champion — has died on Saturday after finally losing to a non-COVID related lung illness.
Lee-real name Jon Huber, aged 41, was a hero with WWE from 2012-2019 after which he moved over to AEW in 2020 and became a fans favorite with the two organizations.
He was surrounded by love ones at the time he passed after a tough battle with a non- Covid related lung problem.
Brodie Lee(formally known as Luke Harper) survived with his wife, Amanda, whom he got married to since 2008 with 2 children together.
“I am heartbroken,” Brodie’s wife lamented in a statement, “He was my best friend, my husband, and the greatest father you’ll ever come in contact with.”
Amanda has given credits to AEW with helping her through this challenging period. The organization has then since issued a statement confessing how they deeply feel.
“The All Elite Wrestling family is heartbroken” says in a report.
Jon Huber was immensely respected and loved in all way — a fierce and captivating talent, a supportive mentor, very cheerful soul that sharply opposite his persona as Mr. Brodie Lee.
Triple H,WWE, also expressed his heartfelt qualifying Lee as Amazing talent, Better human, husband and dad.”
Matt Hardy,”I am disrupted over Brodie’s death. He was a happy man with a wife and young children he adored. A disturbing reminder of how weak life is. Rest well, my friend.”
Jon Huber first came to limelight with WWE as Luke Harper, a member of the Wyatt Family. He won the NXT and WWE SmackDown tag team championship.
In 2014, Lee left the Wyatt Family and wrestled Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental belt — however Ziggler recovered the belt a short time after.
Years later, Huber came back to the Wyatt family, formed the tag team called “Bludgeon Brothers” with Erick Rowan.
When Jon Huber left WWE to join AEW, he won the AEW TNT Championship and held the title for 46 after which he lost it in a match broadcast on Oct. 7th.
Lee took a leave of absence after then from pro wrestling for a medical issue which wasn’t disclosed then.
Apparently, it seems he was aware of his lung ailment but unfortunately, couldn’t make it back to the ring.
