Tiger Woods is awake and recovering.
Tiger Woods, a golf legend, was injured in a single-car accident in California on Tuesday morning, February 23, and was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery for multiple leg fractures.
After the car wreck, an official statement was issued from Woods’ official site, including an update on Woods’ medical condition after his Harbor-UCLA Medical Center surgery.
“During this challenging time, we want to say a big thank you to everybody for the huge support and messages,” Tiger was involved in a single-car crash earlier this morning in California, as previously mentioned. Since being admitted to the er, he went through a lengthy surgery operation on his lower right leg and foot.
”Mr. Woods sustained severe orthopedic fractures to his right lower extremity that were treated at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a category 1 trauma center, during emergency surgery by orthopedic trauma surgeons. Comminuted open fractures have been stabilized by injecting a rod into the tibia, impacting both the upper and lower parts of the tibia and fibula bones. With a mixture of screws and bolts, additional fractures to the bones of the foot and ankle is stabilized. In order to relieve pressure due to swelling, damage to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscle.
”In his hospital bed, he is presently alert, sensitive, and recovering,” the statement read.
“The staff at the UCLA Medical Center in Harbor are wonderful people, they treated us nice we say thank you to them, the Sheriff’s Department in Los Angeles County, and the Fire Department. Your support and assistance are outstanding.
At around 7:12 a.m., police rushed to a single-vehicle rollover collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department reported. There was considerable damage to the vehicle which Woods was driving alone.
Woods was driving at a high rate of velocity and lost control of the car before reaching the middle divider, according to the Los Angeles Times. Before coming to a stop, Woods’s SUV rolled several times.
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department announcement further claimed that Woods was “removed by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics from the wreck with the “jaws of life” and was subsequently transported by ambulance to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.”
