Thierry Henry to quit social media over racism of all sort. Arsenal FC legend, Thierry Henry has announced that he will be deleting his social media accounts until racism is regulated and racist users are held responsible for their posts by the social media companies.

Thierry had made the announcement on his social media platforms on Friday, March 26, after a lot of black footballers, the likes of Raheem Sterling, Tyrone Mings and Marcus Rashford had been complaining on racist abuse they get on social media on regular basis.

Henry made it known that social media companies like Twitter and Instagram are not doing well enough towards prevention of forms of racism on their platforms. Due to this, he is not returning to social media until there is a change made.

In July 2020, Henry had made a statement by taking a knee for the first eight minutes and 46 seconds of a match against New England Revolution.

He also demonstrated solidarity after the viral death of George Floyd , who died early 2020 after a Minnesota police officer pressed his knee on his neck. Henry had knelt for the same amount of time George’s neck was pressed.

He also explained, in an interview, the series of abuse on him after he moved to the New York Red Bulls last year.

“At a point, I concluded that people did not take note of my color any longer as I played football, because I was famous,” Henry explained.

“Coming to play in the US, my color came back and nobody could even get a glimpse of me no matter the state we were in.” My color came back which was the first time in a very long time that I didn’t have the feeling of being in my neighborhood.

“Whenever you want to board a taxi, driver looks at you and gets to realizes that you are of a certain color, then he turns the light on, and he is never free again. ‘Hang on, I’m alone here,’ you think. It struck me once more.”
