The Weeknd snubs future Grammy Awards.  Singer, The Weeknd has disclosed he’ll boycott the Grammys award going forward after he was left out of the 2021 nominations.

The Grammy Awards have long been accused of racism against women and Black musicians, as well as concerns about an arbitrary voting mechanism that critics argue is biased and unrealistic.

The Weeknd, whose mega-hit single “Blinding Lights” has smashed chart records but was snubbed by the award organizers, is this year’s biggest scandal. Kanye West, Frank Ocean, and Drake have recently spoken out against the Grammys and racial prejudice, but this year’s biggest controversy includes the Weeknd, whose mega-hit track “Blinding Lights” has smashed chart records but was overlooked by the award organizers.

The Weeknd played at pop music’s biggest event, the Super Bowl halftime show, last month, but he was snubbed at the Grammy awards, resulting in widespread criticism of the selection process.

The thousands of music experts who make up the voting community of the Recording Academy review original selection decisions, and the same expert panels have the final say on who makes 61 of the Grammys‘ 84 categories.

The Weeknd said in a letter to The New York Times that he would no longer be attending the awards.

The academy’s interim chief executive, Harvey Mason Jr., a musician and songwriter, said the company is committed to developing itself.

In response to the Weeknd’s comment, Mason said, “We’re all disappointed when someone is angry.”

‘And, as in previous years, we’ll be looking for opportunities to enhance our awards process, including the selection evaluation committees.’

The academy has welcomed thousands of new students, recruited a diversity officer, and “brought more women and people of color into its boards and leadership” as part of its efforts to reform. Mason said, “The improvements have been revolutionary.”

A music executive, Chris Anokute, reported that The Weeknd “clearly made the album of the year,” at least in terms of success.

“It’s a pity—if that’s the facts—that his friends didn’t vote for him,” Anokute stated.
