Neymar left out of Brazil Squad
Neymar has been left out of Brazil’s Olympic squad, with Dani Alves, his former Barcelona colleague, receiving a surprise call-up.
Brazil’s 18-man team for the competition has been announced, but the world’s most expensive player, who netted the game-winning penalty to give the Samba Boys their first Olympic football gold medal five years ago, is not among them.
“Neymar is a reference point for the senior national team, but he isn’t in this group because he is competing in the Copa America,” Brazil’s squad coordinator Branco explained.
“We wished we could have had him.”
The Paris Saint-Germain striker is now serving his country in the Copa America, and he scored the game’s first goal in a 3-0 triumph over Venezuela on Sunday.
