Lionel Messi Beats Pele Highest Goal Scorer In A Single Club

This will be a great year for Lionel Messi as he makes another history by beating Pele record as the highest gial scorer in a club

Lionel Messi has scored his 644th goal for Barcelona on Tuesday 23 December.

Messi,A 6-time Ballon d’Or winner, is never new when setting global records in the realm of football. He jut set another one in the 65th-minute play against Valladolid, few days after being equal with Pele’s record over the weekend.

Messi, 33, has gone on his Instagram page express his joy which is texted in Spanish: “When I started playing football, I never thought I would break a record. Especially the one I broke today, which was Pele’s.”

Pele had scored 643 goals for Santos, a Brazilian club, in 17 years of play between 1957 to 1974.

Pele too, on his Instagram page has expressly congratulated Messi in Spanish: “Congratulations on your historic record, Lionel. But above all, congratulations on your beautiful career at Barcelona. Stories like ours, of loving the same club for so long, unfortunately will be increasingly rare in football. I admire you very much.”

Added to his record book of Ballon d’Or awards, and his new scoring record in Barcelona, Messi is also the top scorer in the La Liga tournament history, with 451 goals.
