Carlos Slim, Latin America’s richest man, has tested positive for Covid-19.

As his uncle, businessman Carlos Slim Domit, said on Twitter, the 80-year-old Mexican telecommunications billionaire visited the National Institute of Nutrition for health research, testing and preventive care.

“He’s very well and has had a very favorable development after more than a week of minor symptoms,” Slim Domit said.

This came a day after Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, 67, also got infected.

Mexico’s biggest telecoms provider, America Movil, manages the tycoon and his associates, whose businesses include mobile and fixed-line voice networks, cellular and fixed data services, internet connectivity, and pay TV.

Slim is the wealthiest person in Mexico and, with a net worth valued at US$59 billion, ranks at No. 12 on the Forbes Richest List.
