Kanye West has submitted legal paperwork in Los Angeles to change his name from Kanye Omari West to “Ye.”
The eccentric singer, 44, formally submitted a petition to change his identification to his pseudonym Ye, with no middle name or last name, according to papers obtained by The Associated Press from the Los Angeles Superior Court.
According to West, the change was made due to “personal reasons.” The documents were filed with the court on August 24, despite the fact that they were dated August 11.
A judge must approve the petition before it may become official.
Unless there is proof that the name change is intended to commit fraud, a court in California is likely to accept it.
This isn’t the first time West has tried to hide under an alias. The rapper announced on Twitter in 2018 that he is no longer “the entity formerly known as Kanye West… I am YE.”
