Jeff Bezos has overtaken Elon Musk to take back the world’s-wealthiest-person position. The billionaire owner of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, has regained his position as the richest person in the world, completing the six-week reign of Elon Musk at the top of the list.
On Tuesday, after Tesla (TSLA) shares plummeted 2.4 percent, Musk lost around $4.5 billion, bringing him to second place in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index list.
The net worth of Bezos also decreased by around $372 million, but that was sufficient to push him to the top spot, a position he has occupied for around three years.
The Bloomberg Billionaire’s index reportedly claims Bezos is worth $191 billion as of Wednesday, February 17, relative to Musk’s $190 billion.
Musk’s rise to first place occurred in early January, when he still owned 170 million Tesla shares.
Due to the massive rise in revenue driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, Amazon CEO Bezos’ share in the company soared by $75 billion in 2020, to $173.3 billion.
Bill Gates remains the third-richest individual in the world, worth $137 billion.
