Another record will be made as Israel Adesanya takes on the Polish, Jan Blachowicz, on Saturday.
The MMA fighter, Nigeria and New Zealand citizen, is set to upgrade his weight class to light heavyweight to take on the Polish champion at UFC 259 on March 6th in Las Vegas, US.
Adesanya, who has been keeping a clean sheet in the UFC, upon defeating Blachowicz, he will become the 5th and only two-weight champion in the history of the organization.
Having an interview with Submission Radio before the fight, Coach Eugene Bareman acknowledged that this is the MMA fighter’s hardest fight by a long shot.
He is hoping turns out to be a step forward from any of his past opponents, and for all the intents and purposes, he is establishing himself as underdogs within the camp.
Eugene Bareman said ‘We’re doing it cos we’re giving up our size and weight advantage, which we have on occasion.’ We’re going to give it away now. So it’s just a very difficult situation (fight),” according to LindaIkeji’s Blog
‘What we’re about to attempt here is, as many people don’t realize, a very, very difficult and risky undertaking, and one that makes the hairs on the backs of our necks stand up for all of us coaches and Israel.’
‘Because this is a genuine challenge – a significant one. It’s a scary one, and it’s one that makes you want to attack it first thing in the morning.
‘And we’ve had a fantastic camp because it’s such an energizing fight.’ And because it’s such a dangerous fight, it’s a highly motivating one.’
