DPR seals filling stations for selling higher than approved price in Owerri,Imo state.
Some gas stations have been sealed, in Imo state, by the Department of Petroleum Resources.
The gas stations were actually locked for selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also called gasoline or petrol, higher than the approved pump price, according to Roseline Wilki, Zonal Controller of DPR in Imo, who said to reporters while on their normal monitoring exercise in Owerri, the state capital, leading a team of officials.
”We’re present here to ensure the quality of the available commodity is good, that you don’t have any adulterated goods, and to ensure resistance on any form of hoarding.
“We are present here to ensure gas operators do follow the price approved by the federal government.
“Those who are not selling in line with the price approved by the federal government and those selling adulterated goods will face serious consequences; we will make sure that they (consumers) consume the correct product.”
Residents in the state were also advised to report any independent marketer selling above the usual pump price to the DPR zonal manager, who urged them to ignore any rumour of a rise in the price of gasoline at the pump.
Wilki also cautioned operators against stockpiling and poor service. She continued,
“Right from the warehouse, we’re going to check the carriages to make sure all the goods being loaded are up to spec.
“it is advised that the residents shouldn’t have to rely on black market goods and they should immediately report any problems to the government, which has offices in almost all the state of the Federation,” says the official.
