Desire Oparanozie hits on NFF over her exclusion from Super Falcons squad.
After her omission from the Super Falcons squad that will play at the Turkish Women’s Cup, Desire Oparanozie has slammed the Nigeria Football Federation, beginning today, Monday, February 15.
The NFF announced a 23-man list for the competition on Thursday last week, with Oparanozie a shock omission considering its form this season.
Due to her role in inciting protests among her teammates at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, rumors have emerged that she was withdrawn.
Reacting to the news, in a recent interview with the BBC, NFF Director of Communications Ademola Olajire said it had nothing to do with the part she played in the protest.
Oparanozie is already part of the team’s preparations, and because she was not the only one involved, her non-inclusion had nothing to do with the protest in France.’
Team selection is largely the prerogative of the coaches and not the NFF.
”She is a substantial member of the national women’s side. I think she’ll just have to work on her game and then, if she has the opportunity, push for consistent selection.”
Oparanozie has now reacted to what Olajide said. Taking to her Twitter handle she wrote;
Act on my game and campaign for clear preference. How much of their games have they played on over the last year, some that have been without a club for over a year now, to warrant their inclusion? When choice is spoiled for us. Check for a different lie.
