David Etute arrested for beating his date to death after realizing ‘she was a man’
After discovering the lady named ‘Angie’ with whom he’d had oral s3x was actually a male, a now-suspended Virginia Tech football player has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
On May 31, Nigerian-American Ismemen David Etute, 18, was charged with the death of Blacksburg restaurant manager Jerry Paul Smith, 40, after reportedly beating and stomping him many times.
Etute paired with Smith on Tinder, but Smith’s profile stated that he was a woman named ‘Angie,’ according to Etute’s attorney James Turk.
During a bond hearing on Wednesday morning, Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mary Pettitt told the Montgomery County General District Court that the two initially met on April 10 for oral s3x, during which Etute was still under the belief Smith was a woman.
Smith had various social media accounts, Turk told DailyMail.com, where he pretended to be a woman named ‘Angie.’
Etute did not realize Smith was a guy until they met again on May 31 at Smith’s residence for a second sexual session.
Following the discovery, Etute hit Smith five times in the face before collapsing. Commonwealth Attorneys told the court that he punched him at least five more times and trampled on him.
According to WSLS.com, Etute also told authorities that Smith did not fight back.
‘No one deserves to die, but I don’t mind saying, don’t pretend you’re someone you’re not,’ Etute’s lawyer, James Turk, said outside of court on Wednesday. ‘Under that guise, don’t target or entice anyone.’ That’s completely incorrect.’
According to the Richmond-Times Dispatch, Smith died as a result of blunt force injuries to the head.
Smith’s teeth were missing and all of his bones in his face were broken, according to the report.
Etute was immediately suspended from the football team and the institution, according to a statement made by Virginia Tech on Wednesday.
“Blacksburg Police continue to lead this ongoing investigation,” the institution stated in a statement. “The institution will help law enforcement agencies pursuing the case in any way it can.”
