Bandits kill son of Zamfara Commissioner of Security and former DIG
Tsafe town, the council seat of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State, was attacked by suspected armed bandits, who killed three persons, including the son of the state’s Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs and former DIG, Mamman Tsafe.
The gunmen reportedly stormed the town on Sunday, April 3, just after night prayer and started on a shooting rampage.
The event occurred in the ‘Hayin Tumbi’ neighborhood, near to the commissioner’s apartment, when many people were still in mosques doing their night prayers, according to reports.
The attack and the death of the commissioner’s son were verified by a police source, who also stated that the police will issue an official statement about the event.
Residents told Daily Trust that bandits dressed in military clothes assaulted Shiyar Namada, a neighborhood near the commissioner’s home, and started fire on residents.

“During iftar, the commissioner’s son and a few others were seated in front of DIG Ibrahim Mamman Tsafe’s apartment when armed men suddenly appeared and began shooting at everyone on sight.”
“Most people were praying Tarawih in many mosques near the neighborhood during the attack, and locals had to run to safety. Later, the armed guys disappeared into the woods. As I speak with you, I’m in the Waziri’s home, where funeral arrangements are being made.”
