Lymphoma and Leukemia On Monday, the Dailymail reported the news quoting NI , writing: ‘Very sad news this morning on the passing of Professor Jim Dornan, a passionate patron, lobbyist, and comrade to everyone at @LAL NI.’
‘Jim was a tireless supporter of many small charities and campaigns in Northern Ireland, and his legacy will live on.’ Heartfelt condolences to relatives and friends at this difficult period.’
Dornan worked extensively with the foundation after being diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 2005.
From 1986 to 2012, he worked as an obstetrician and gynaecologist in the Belfast Trust.
From 1995 to 2012, Dornan was a professor of foetal medicine at Queen’s University Belfast.
From 2004 to 2006, he served as senior vice-president of the Royal College of Gynaecologists.
Aside from his medical practice, he appeared in a 2016 episode of his son Jamie’s thrilling BBC One series The Fall, playing police board member John Porter.
Dornan leaves behind a wife, Samina, and three daughters, Liesa, Jessica, and Jamie, who have yet to comment on the devastating news.
Ian Paisley, MP for North Antrim, and Nichola Rooney, Chair of the Division of Clinical Psychology in Northern Ireland, have paid tribute.
